• Certificate Verification (Free): Anyone can verify a specific certificate, transcript, or testimonial using its unique ID. This is designed for employers and institutions to validate your qualifications. No cost, no credits required.
• Profile Lookup (Requires Credits): Viewing a learner's full public profile — including skills, education, experience, completed courses, certificates, and endorsements — consumes a lookup credit from the learner's own balance. This gives learners control over who can view their comprehensive profile.

Lookup credits are a way for learners to control access to their detailed public profile. The system is designed to be scalable and fair:

• Who can get credits? Only learners — the profile owners — can have lookup credits.
• How to earn credits? Learners earn credits by completing courses and achieving milestones. Each course completion grants lookup credits.
• How to buy credits? Learners can purchase additional credits through their dashboard.
• Who pays? When someone views a learner's profile, the learner's credits are spent — not the viewer's.
• Why? This prevents spam lookups, gives learners control over their visibility, and rewards learning progress.

If a learner has 0 lookup credits, their public profile will not be accessible to external viewers. They will see a message: "This learner has no available public lookups. Contact the learner to activate a lookup." The learner can earn credits by completing courses or purchase more credits to re-enable profile visibility.

Yes! When you view your own profile, no credit is spent. The system detects that you are the profile owner and bypasses the credit check. You can always see your own full profile for free.

Learners earn lookup credits through academic achievement:

• Course Completion: Each completed course grants lookup credits.
• Certificate Issuance: Earning a certificate also grants credits.
• Assessment Milestones: Passing key assessments and exams rewards credits.
• Learning Streaks: Consistent learning activity earns bonus credits.

This creates a sustainable ecosystem where learning activity fuels profile visibility.

You can verify multiple credential types:

Certificate verification is always free and does not consume any credits.

Each certificate issued on SkillNexus is anchored to the Core DAO blockchain. When you verify a credential, we check the blockchain to confirm:

• The certificate was issued by a legitimate authority
• The credential hasn't been tampered with
• The certificate hasn't been revoked
• It was issued to the rightful recipient

This makes SkillNexus credentials globally verifiable and tamper-proof.

Yes. Our verification process uses public blockchain data and encrypted metadata stored in R2. We never expose sensitive personal information. What you see is the minimum information needed to verify authenticity: name, credential ID, issuer, and issue date — all of which are already public on the blockchain. We do not store verification queries.
